There once was a story all about...
A fourth grade teacher showing up at a school an hour and a half before it started and not leaving until 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm each evening. Clocking 11 and 12 hours almost every day of the week and still not getting it all done.
This teacher was spending so much time searching the internet, Pinterest, and TPT for the engaging resources that would make her life easier…only to find there wasn’t much out there that was aligned to the Texas standards. Which then meant this teacher was spending hours modifying activities or creating resources from scratch that actually aligned to the TEKS.
Why not just use the fabulous textbook we were provided you might ask? Because big box publishers like to slap a Texas icon on a textbook and call it standards aligned…file that under lies we tell ourselves. Teachers know all too well that textbooks are often lacking in skills coverage and usually dry. She wanted activities that students would actually enjoy!
She loved math and wanted her students to find that same math love. Because all people can be "math people".
